GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

As part of the Stoney Nakoda Adult Treatment Centre (SN-ATC) Team, client care assistants use strength-based and recovery-oriented approaches with individuals and/or groups to help combat stigma, promote self-determination, and instill hope. The Client Care Assistant works with the interdisciplinary team to monitor and respond to clients’ needs in order to provide support, care and safety for clients 24 hours per day in accordance with centre policies and individual treatment plans.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and welcomes clients, community members and guests that come to SN-ATC.
  • Primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients.
  • Maintains confidentiality and/or anonymity of clients and guests.
  • Translates Stoney responses to English, without bias.
  • Acts as an ambassador for Stoney Health Services.
  • Has a strong understanding and knowledge of all of Stoney Health Service’s programs and services.
  • Acts as a client care assistant for any SN-ATC programs requiring support.
  • Participate as a member of the Stoney Health Services team in the following ways:
  • Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Accreditation activities and other new development opportunities
  • Attends Team/staff meetings, training and development opportunities
  • Is culturally sensitive, respectful, non-judgmental, patient and understanding
  • Performs clerical functions related to role (i.e. making appointments to interview clients in their home, documentation, telephone follow-ups, reporting etc.). This includes maintaining the accuracy and confidentiality of client records and up-to-date charting on all engagements.
  • Carries out other duties as required.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Friendly, outgoing personality. Comfortable introducing self to others and supporting individuals within their recovery.
  • Must speak and write in both Stoney and English.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision 5
  • Demonstrates initiative, well-developed problem solving, prioritisation, time management, organizational and conflict resolution skills
  • A proven ability to work well with individuals from varying backgrounds
  • Computer and mobile communication skills relevant to the position

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Clear Criminal record check and vulnerable sector
  • Class 5 Advanced Drivers License and Clean Driving Record
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
