JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Health Manager, the Day Care Manager is responsible for planning, supervising, coordinating and implementing the activities of the childcare program for the Eden Valley Early Learning Center.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing the activities of the daycare center.
  • Plan and implement an enriching cultural program & environment.
  • Plan & implement a traditional language program for children to practice their language skills.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts various programs for children.
  • Participates in assessment and evaluation of ongoing program goals & objectives.
  • Prepares routine and special reports.
  • Prepares newsletter submissions or other communication methods.
  • Responsible for maintaining licensing standards & requirements, as well as Health and safety requirements.
  • Assists in the development, administration, and monitoring of the approved budget.
  • Reviews and monitors expenditures in accordance to budget and/or contracts and ensures that the program works within the allocated resources of the budget
  • Participates in staff development and training.
  • Works with parents to promote an understanding of growth & development of their children.
  • Serves as a resource when needed.
  • Keeps inventory of all supplies, groceries & equipment.
  • Must be able to order supplies as needed.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Education, Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • Early childhood education diploma or certificate
  • Level III Certification from Daycare staff qualifications.
  • Provide First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Clean criminal records check and clear child welfare records check
  • Related work experiences in early childhood
  • Must have the ability to understand, adapt to and evaluate children’s developmental stages.
  • Must have knowledge & understanding of our Aboriginal Culture, Language & History
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative, resourceful, patient, reliable, flexible & positive.
  • Ability to prepare reports and presentations.
  • Must have leadership qualities.
  • Must be able to supervise personnel.
  • Communicate effectively in both oral & written.
  • Must be very organized and complete all tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to speak Stoney an asset.
