POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Health and Safety Officer, the Janitor has the primary responsibility for cleaning the Stoney Health Center buildings in such a way to promote health and safety while reducing the spread of infection. The Janitor is also responsible for performing minor building maintenance and additional duties not stipulated below.
Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Empty/ clean garbage containers daily
- Clean, dust, and disinfect all surfaces, appliances, and office equipment
- Sweep, wash, and disinfect floors daily
- Vacuum (daily) and shampoo carpets as required
- Clean, disinfect, and restock washrooms
- Minor building maintenance
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools on an incidental basis
- Ensure that all areas of the building are clear of debris
- Assist with the setup of facility meetings, events, etc.
- Clean and maintain janitor equipment
- Secure the building and report any unauthorized occupants
- Attend safety meetings and other related meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of grade 10 education
- Must be physically able to perform duties which include moderate lifting & moving
- Completion of a WHIMIS Certificate is considered an asset
- Must be able to communicate effectively
Employment Conditions:
- Clear Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Class 5 Advanced Driver’s License and Clean Driving Record
- Hours are from Monday – Friday, 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
