JOB SUMMARY:

The Nurse Educator will work alongside elders, youth, and community members including health team to implement educational programs and events for the community and help those to have a better understanding of overall holistic health. With your role you will establish guidelines and be responsible for making key decisions contributing to the safety and wellbeing of the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads/coordinates/participates in strategic, operational and financial planning of educational programming and events.
  • Referrals to health team based off initial assessments so proper follow up and care can be implemented.
  • Ensure clients are receiving culturally sensitive and holistic care involving health professionals both on and off reserve.
  • Identify, mentor, train, educate all community members, staff, and other professionals.
  • Assess and evaluate the programs progress, outcomes and goals.
  • Complete monthly statistics and data collection for future projects and funding.
  • Plan culturally relevant and educational sessions and events for the community with a focus on health initiatives.
  • Monitor, analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of project activities through data collection, and narrative reporting.
  • Request community feedback and implement appropriate actions.
  • Conduct health and environmental assessments and monitor.
  • Properly refer clients to appropriate members of the health team when necessary.
  • Support health team with any additional tasks that may require help.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse License (or equivalent)
  • An understanding of the cultural uniqueness within Treaty Seven Territory is an asset
  • Proficiency in the use of computers as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation and public speaking skills
  • Ability to lead, mentor and supervise a team (Elders, Youth, Health Professional and Community Members)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including good listening and coaching skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Must be friendly, courteous, assertive, objective and fair

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Clear Criminal record check and vulnerable sector
  • Class 5 Advanced Drivers License and Clean Driving Record

Monthly Travel Allowance Provided Based on Address.
