GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Client Support Worker will work collaboratively with the team to support families experiencing family violence. This position reports to the Manager and Executive Director of Eagle’s Nest and the primary role is to provide coverage for Client Support Workers when needed. The Client Support Worker ensures that women and children who are in crisis are safe and provides assistance, support, information, referrals, and advocacy to residents or potential residents of Eagle’s Nest Shelter.
This on-call position provides coverage as required, primarily for evening and weekend shifts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works directly with women to provide non-judgmental emotional support and basic needs for clients
- Completes shelter intakes and danger assessments for clients who wish to access services
- Supports clients with safety planning, information and referrals, goals and intervention plans
- Advocates on behalf of clients
- Liaises with different agencies, if required to support the client
- Meets with clients on a daily basis to discuss their needs and concerns
- Maintains up to date case notes and documentation for client contact consistent with agency policies and standards
- Maintains records, statistics and data collection as required
- Remains up to date and knowledgeable of resources available for clients, as well as provincial standards of client care
- Participates in supervision, annual performance reviews, and staff meetings as required
- Abide by SNN Staff Regulations, Eagles Nest Policies and a strict confidentiality agreement
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Minimum of two years specific experience working in the field of family violence or related sectors of addictions and mental health
- Knowledge of Stoney family culture and values
- Diploma in social work or a related field an asset
- An understanding of a trauma informed approach an asset
- First Aide / CPR certificate an asset
- ASIST Suicide Intervention training an asset
- Danger Assessment training an asset
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Must have reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract
- Must be chemical and substance free
- Must be able to abide by Stoney Nakoda Nation Staff Regulations, Eagle’s Nest Policies, and a strict Confidentiality agreement
- Criminal Record check and Intervention Record check are conditions of employment
