SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Prevention Manager, the Early Intervention and Prevention Coordinator’s core function is to undertake projects which meets the requirement of enhancing the lives of families, family preservation along with cultural and Stoney language awareness. The Eden Valley Intervention and Prevention Coordinator will develop and deliver workshops and other programming, coordinate community events with Eden Valley partners that will enhance the quality of life for Eden Valley children, youth and families.

TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages projects and initiatives as assigned by the supervisors or manager.
  • Conducts research and analysis for the development and operationalization of a community-based intervention/ preservation program.
  • Creates and edits public and committee presentation materials (e.g. speaking notes, meeting outlines, Power Point presentations, handouts) to meet the communication needs of the project.
  • Oversees the flow of information to various committees engaging the appropriate staff to ensure materials are accurate, complete and on time.
  • Develop, lead and manage new projects as they relate to the Eden Valley Nation Vision’s Framework and Community Consultation findings.
  • Initiatives resulting from the best practice research and, Community Consultation Process.
  • Interpret content and application and communicate intent of the Administrative Policies with internal and external communities
  • Decision making with respect to consultation and collaboration is based on the nature and autonomy of the project and influence outcomes directly with internal staff.
  • External relationships (Chief and Council and community at large) to influence direction and outcomes of community needs assessments.
  • Budget, material and resource planning as it relates to initiatives.
  • Specific purpose and project budget management as it relates to activity material and resource management.
  • Other duties assigned by the supervisor or manager.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENT

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree with several years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience working with First Nation communities
  • Experience in project management
  • Working knowledge of governance with Bearspaw Nation.
  • Financial, governance and human resource management experience considered an asset
  • Excellent judgement, diplomacy, inter-personnel, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to speak Stoney considered a strong asset

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Criminal record check with Vulnerable sector; Child Intervention check
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
