JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Agency Associate Director and/or Director the Intervention Supervisor supervises and supports Intervention Case Workers and Case Aids.  The Intervention Supervisor will work with the staff on their units in strengths based capacity.  In this capacity, the Intervention Supervisor will assign cases based on the strengths of the workers on the unit.  They will ensure that Intervention Workers are adhering to appropriate legislations as well as current casework trends.  You will provide leadership to your team.  The Intervention Supervisor will build and maintain a strong effective team that embraces change.  Endeavors to support and preserve the Stoney Language and Culture.

TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts thorough and supportive orientation to new staff.
  • Schedules and completes supervision with each staff member a minimum of one time per month.
  • Schedules and completes a minimum of one unit meeting per month
  • Conducts annual performance evaluations for each staff
  • Adheres to and ensures best practices are followed.
  • Evaluates and assigns cases based on the strengths of each staff
  • Ensures no unit staff nor themselves are in conflict of interest situations.
  • Submits timesheets that are accurate for your team on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Ensures Expense claims are submitted along with travel verifications are attached.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional manner.
  • Assists staff in prioritizing tasks.
  • Demonstrates fiscal awareness
  • Promote professional development in all staff.
  • Effective facilitation of change as the need arises.
  • Conducts file reviews a minimum of twice per year
  • Demonstrates a communication style that is open, transparent, and honest.
  • Practices and supports staff in/with effective conflict management.
  • Keeps current on legislation, regulations, policy, protocols and program knowledge.
  • Clearly interprets legislation, regulations and policies.
  • Models the ability to identify, document and respond to physical, emotional and behavioral indicators of abuse and neglect.
  • Keep permanency for children and youth in the forefront of casework practice and ensure it is ongoing.
  • Ensure the Associate Director and Director are aware of any high risk situation, incidents where a child is hurt while in the care of the Director, or any potential involvement with media.
  • Participates in monthly supervision with the Associate Director/Director.
  • Participates in monthly supervision meetings
  • Creates and models a positive and respectful learning environment
  • Models accountability.
  • Models the ability to balance work and personal life
  • Must be available to team on a consistent basis.
  • Monitors staff adherence to legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all aspects of casework practice

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Social Work Diploma, BSW/MSW, related post-secondary education and plus a minimum 2 years related experience
  • Working knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act
  • Working knowledge of the Enhancement Act Policy and Procedures
  • Working knowledge of STA Policy and Procedure
  • Working Knowledge of governance within first nations communities
  • Working knowledge of first nation community, family structure, customs and traditions
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must possess a reliable vehicle
  • Must possess excellent time management skills
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills
  • Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality form and a breach of confidentiality form
  • Must have excellent computer skills
  • Must provide a clean Criminal Record Check
  • Must have working knowledge of the SOS practice
  • Must possess a minimum of 1,000,000 liability on vehicle insurance
  • Ability to speak both Stoney and English fluently.

OTHER

  • Liaises and maintains communication with community based programs and management, government agencies, parents, caregivers, community members and other related organizations
  • Represents SNCFS when interacting with partners, Child and Family Services and Delegated First Nation Agencies
  • Ensures personnel administration is in accordance to STA regulations and policy and Provincial legislations
  • Represents SNCFS in extended training capacities and opportunities
