THE OPPORTUNITY
Stoney Education Authority is seeking dependable On-Call Custodians to provide casual custodial coverage across SEA schools. This role supports clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming learning environments for students, staff, families, and visitors.
On-call employees are scheduled based on operational need and are typically contacted the day before to confirm availability for a shift. We are currently seeking custodial support for multiple SEA schools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, washrooms, hallways, common areas, staff spaces, and other assigned areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, scrub, empty garbage and recycling, and replenish custodial supplies.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and maintain appropriate sanitation standards.
- Perform routine floor care and assist with room setups, furniture movement, school events, and other facility needs.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, hazards, damage, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Safely use and care for custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning products in accordance with WHMIS and workplace-safety requirements.
- Maintain secure access to assigned areas and work respectfully around students, staff, families, Elders, and community members.
- Perform other custodial or facility-related duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Reliable, punctual, and able to respond to on-call scheduling needs.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or building-maintenance experience is considered an asset, but is not required.
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, manage time effectively, and maintain consistent cleaning standards.
- Ability to communicate respectfully and work collaboratively in a school and community environment.
- Experience working in a First Nations or Indigenous community is considered an asset.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- Ability to safely work with cleaning products and chemicals and complete required workplace-safety training.
- Reliable transportation and availability to work at assigned SEA school locations may be required.
- As a casual position, this role is not eligible for the Employer’s group benefits or pension plans.
